The National Health Authority (NHA) of India has provided public access to the APIs that power the CoWin app, the primary means for booking COVID-19 vaccination appointments. Access to the API is intended to allow developers to build solutions that simplify gaining access to the vaccine.

As reported by The Indian Express, these APIs will provide programmatic access to vaccine appointment availability and this data can be requested by PIN code or district. Additionally, the API can provide PIN code over a seven-day period, and by district over a seven-day period. The API will also provide the ability to access vaccination verification and users will be able to download a PDF copy of vaccination certificates.

Shown above is an example integration that leverages the APIs to allow users to schedule vaccination appointments. This application enables notification via SMS messaging and email.
