Apollo GraphQL, a provider of GraphQL API technologies, has announced the addition of several new enhancements to Apollo Federation, the company’s distributed GraphQL solution. These improvements include new tools for Apollo Studio, a new VS Code plugin, and a new CLI.
Apollo Studio, the company’s web-based application, has added visual query plans and federated composition checks, which are intended to help teams improve productivity when managing a federated graph. Apollo also added Workbench, a new VS Code plugin that should help developers work more collaboratively on schema design within the ecosystem.
The new CLI, named Rover, is dedicated to “testing schema changes, publishing them to the registry, and managing changes.” Additionally, the company notes that they built Rover as a static binary in order to facilitate improved coordination for teams that use multiple languages, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps Environments.
